LED light bulbs are great for hard to reach spots that you
don't want to have to get to in order to change a light bulb. They are rated to last for years. They
run cool to the touch so they are less hazardous and they don't have the
recycling issues that CFL bulbs have.
That being said, they are still pretty darn pricy. Everything is a trade off, in this case the convenience of not having to
replace a bulb for years vs. the price.
If it saves me from climbing a ladder, I will select the convenience.
