I put ice cubes in this and 23 hours later I opened it and approximately 1/3 of the ice was left. That is pretty darn good with an average room temperature of 72 degrees for the test. I have not seen an explanation for why these double walled cups can't go in the dishwasher but hand washing is a bit of a pain. At least this one allows the lid to be put in the top shelf of a dishwasher. It's gasket is also removable for hand washing. All in all a very good thermal mug.From the vendor:
