Faus Pax Amazon, Faus Pax! Has Amazon Shot Themselves in the Foot?

Amazon just raised the minimum order to $49 to get free shipping.   I suspect that their goal is to drive shoppers to Prime and it's free shipping.  I'm not sure the minimum shipping rate is the manner to do it.   I just looked at three items on Amazon and then compared the prices on eBay.  The same exact brand of maple extract was three dollars cheaper on eBay and with shipping was within a few cents of the price listed on Amazon.  Note the same price but including shipping while on Amazon you would have to come up with $42 more of products to get the free shipping.  It was the same for the ink cartridges I looked at.  $4.50 including shipping on eBay while Amazon was $6.06 plus an additional $42 to get the free shipping on a Canon compatible ink cartridge.  Amazon did have an alternative at $5.84 including shipping. I really like Amazon and I am luke warm regarding eBay.   However the increase to $49 to ge...

South Main Hardware 848104 6 Inch Cable Ties, Black 100-Pack, 45-Lb Test, Small by South Main Hardware

These ties are from the same company who provided me with the 4" ties.  These  too, are great little cable ties.  They are 2" longer than the last ones I reviewed.  They are thicker and would be able to easily hold power cables.   They are strong enough to hold a power cable but light enough that you can cut them off with scissors instead of wire cutters that you need with a heavier tie.   They are suitable for USB and cell phone type wires, they  are long enough for power cables.   At this price for this number, you  can afford to just cut them off and use them instead of twist ties. Material: nylon 6/6, ul-94v2 certification and flammability Temp range: -40 degreec to 85 degreec/-40 degreef to 185 degreef Great for cable management and home organization UV resistant Package includes 100 zip ties If reviewing a product, it may have been received free of charge. That will NEVER ha...

Ball Park Flame Grilled Beef Jerky, Bourbon BBQ

I suppose I am about to outrage jerky fans but I  am not an aficionado of jerky.  I saw this and thought, what the hey, I have bought lots of jerky for my grandson and have never tried it.  This reminds me of tough, chewy bacon.  (I can hear the cries of outrage.)  That doesn't mean I didn't like it, I did!  It had a nice flavor, I got BBQ and did not get any bourbon flavor.  Bourbon I have had and that is a flavor I can clearly relate to.   This says it is high in protein and low in sodium.  1 oz is 80 calories.  I've no clue how to identify one ounce without weighing the stuff which is hardly convenient.   It does caution you to refrigerate it or consume it within three days of opening.  I was under the erroneous impression that jerky was well neigh to indestructible and was surprised to read that.   Regardless of my lack of experience, I like this and found it to be a good snack. Dragon Fountain and Night Light

This is as nice as the photo.  The pump is a touch too powerful for the size of the fountain but that isn't really a drawback.  The led changes color and lights the rolling glass ball on the fountain.  It is pretty and the changing color light is subdued enough to be a nightlight.  This was well received by my grandchild. From the vendor: This LED light up fountain is the perfect tabletop sculpture for your castle! A regal red dragon protects his treasure while making your room glow with medieval style, and the gently cascading water and clear orb cast a soothing ambiance. Specification Item weight: 1.8 lbs. 5½" x 5½" x 8¾" high; 77" long power cord. Plastic, polyresin and LED light. Submersible water pump included. UPC: 849179020996. UL Recognized If reviewing a product, it may have been received free of charge. That will NEVER have a bearing on my recommendations.

Sunbeam Xl Renue Heat Therapy Wrap, Burgundy from Sunbeam

This is NOT me.  I haven't purchased a hot pad in decades.   This is so much nicer it is probably criminal to call it a hot pad.   It fits around the neck and at low provides a very comfortable heat.  I'm not sure I could stand the high setting very long, it is HOT.   The thing is snuggly.   I put it on my lower back and not around me neck and it worked just as well there.   It says you can dampen it for warm heat.  I did not try that but that is a great feature.  This is a very nice heating pad or heat therapy wrap in marketing terminology. Ergotron Home Workspace Lift 35 Sit or Stand Adjustable Desk

I have read several studies about the health detriments to sitting most of the day.  Since I am a writer, I find typing much easier while sitting.  I saw this unit on Amazon and received it free for an honest review.  The build quality is exceptional.   It works easily and well.  The down side is that it is big!  49 pounds and dimensions L x W x H     35 x 24 x 20 inches is big.  I measured my desk and thought it would just fit.   I was wrong.  I did not take into consideration that I have pigeon holes and a hutch on the back of my desk.  This unit fit there but I could not access any of the hutch when the unit was extended vertically and could not get to most of the rest even when the unit was down.    Frankly I was disappointed as I am convinced the concept is sound.  I moved the unit to a table in my garage.  I was pleasantly surprised that it now provides a standing wor...
