I inserted the batteries and tested the light. I put it in a closet on a wire shelf, I did not even mount it. I opened the door of the closet and the light turned on. I closed the door and waited and the light went out. I repeated this several times. I didn't time it but with no motion it seemed about 2 minutes before the light went out. This is a good fix for a dark closet with no need to run wires.
