Droid X Love Affair Continues

Another reason I love my Droid X  is the ability to take my dictation. I can sit here on the lanai, looking out over the lake and the seventh green while reveling in the weather and working on my blog. I can simply talk into my phone instead of typing. I use the voice command for texting all the time but this is the first I have composed blog posts on Gmail and sent them to myself. Then I just copy them into my blog. I love it!

I suspect voice command will become more ubiquitous in the future in all electronics. We certainly can’t make a tech support or customer service inquiry without being forced to deal with voice recognition. Right now I'm just amazed that the Droid X software recognized the word, ubiquitous.

Believe it or not, back in 1985 we spent a great deal of time trying to make a voice recognition software package work so we could sell it. We never did promote it due to our inability to get it to work well. Dragon Naturally Speaking was the first voice recognition software that we sold with any confidence.

Another thing about my Droid X, I spent some time looking at YouTube videos the other day. I was totally impressed with how easy it was to watch a video on my phone. I know that is old hat for my younger readers however for people my age it is amazing.

I do recommend using wifi instead of 3G as it is way faster.

The Droid X continues to exceed my expectations. I will continue to write about the features as I find and use them.  The following are some excellent attachments or acceories for the Droid X.

Samsung FlipShot-ho hum

I just got the Samsung FlipShot aka SCH-U900. If you haven’t noticed by now, I am very family oriented, specifically focused on grandchildren. I frequently lament that I don’t have my camera on me. However, I always have my phone on me. Thusly I wanted a phone with a decent camera. The FlipShot comes close. Samsung claims it is a 3 megapixel camera with flash and zoom. The photos are not what I would consider decent from a digital camera but compared to my last phone/camera, they are much better. The phone has a slot for a micro sd memory card. I popped a 2gb card in there for saving my photos. I have not been able to find a way to default the photos to the memory card. You have to manually move them. I haven’t given up and perhaps in a software upgrade there will be a way to get them to the card without moving them manually. Getting them off of the phone is interesting. If you don’t buy Samsung’s charging/data cable, you can send them to yourself and get them on your pc that way. You
