Most people want diapers for their absorbency. This is an overnight diaper. The fastening parts seem fine and the overall material does not seem harsh. I dumped two cups of water on the diaper. After the first cup, there was no leakage or drips. The second cup I may have poured a little faster and also picked up the diaper more quickly. I had a few drops of water run out. I mopped up the water with the diaper and although heavy, that worked. So my thoughts are that kids don't whiz two cups at a time so this diaper should meet your kid's overnight needs.
